What is ACCA?
ACCA course is Association of Chartered Certified Accountants a leading international accountancy body. The ACCA qualification is recognised in other countries and is treated as being equivalent to their local qualification.
ACCA course duration
ACCA duration depends on your level of education. As for example, if you are a 12th graduate, the course is for 3 years. However, if you are a commerce graduate, the course duration for you is 2 to 2.5 years. On the other hand an IPCC (both groups) has to study for 2 years, B.Com, and 1-year for IPCC and CA graduates.
ACCA course qualification
To be able to receive the ACCA qualification, one should be at least 18 years old and have a minimum qualification of 10+2 with an aggregate of 65% in Mathematics or Accounts as well as English, and a minimum of at least 50% in all other chosen subjects. There are many students who are studying for their graduation in Commerce. There are also many who are studying in business related streams like BCom, BBA, BMS. They are also eligible for the ACCA course and can even pursue ACCA along with their graduation.
Admission process
There are two types of admission process. One is merit based applications. The other is entrance exam based admission. First we will see how to take admission for the entrance based admission process. Here are the steps:
At first, you have to fill and submit application forms
Then you have to upload the required documents
After that is the application fee payment
Then comes the registration for the entrance exam. If the university that the student has applied to does not directly register the student for the entrance exam, it is the student’s responsibility to register well before the deadline.
After that comes the entrance exam results and shortlisting of candidates. The university will shortlist the candidates on the basis of entrance exam scores. Then they will call the shortlisted candidates for further verification.
The last step is personal interviews and document verification. Only the shortlisted candidates will be called for this round. The candidates who are found eligible will be granted admission to the course.
Now we will talk about the merit based admission process.
The steps are:
One has to fill and submit applications. The students will have to fill out their respective university’s application form – either online or offline. This is because some universities only accept online applications, and some allow both.
Then comes the uploading of documents. After filling out all the required details in the application form, students should scan and upload all the necessary documents for admission and verification. This must be done on the admission portal.
After that comes the application fee. When one has finished uploading the documents, they must pay the application fee which may differ from college to college. On doing this, they will receive their application number through SMS or email.
The admission team at the university will then review students’ applications and see if they fit the eligibility criteria. After that, they will shortlist the students. These students will now be called to join group discussions and give personal interviews.
Then comes the group discussions and personal interviews. Some universities conduct group discussions and personal interviews. They do this to get an idea of the candidate’s nature and background in regard to what the university wants from its students.
ACCA course details
ACCA is a professional course. This course is designed and regulated by the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, which is a global body for certification of Chartered Accountants. tHe objective of this is to prepare students for superior management through technical expertise in Accounting and Finance. The minimum duration is 2 to 3 years. There are 13 exams in total. There are various jobs which one can get after completing this course. They are: accountant, internal auditor, forensic accountant, compliance officer, business analyst, risk manager, treasurer, insolvency practitioner, business consultant, chief financial officer, etc.
ACCA course fees
The average annual fees is Rs 65,000 to Rs 2,50,000.
ACCA syllabus
There are 13 courses and exams of ACCA. They are divided into 3 levels and various sub-levels. They are as follows:
- Knowledge level- Business Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting.
- Skills level- Corporate and Business Laws, Performance Management, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Audit and Assurance, Financial Management.
3.Professional level- There are 2 compulsory subjects. They are: Strategic Business Leadership, Strategic Business Reporting. Along with that, there are 4 optional subjects out of which one has to choose two. They are: Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Performance Management, Advanced Taxation and Advanced Audit and Assurance
